Circulating fluidized bed combustion boilers

circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers are used for steam and power generation. They are characterized by their unmatched fuel flexibility and cover nearly all solid fuels from coal and biomass to alternative fuels and wastes. The clean combustion technology delivers high efficiency and reliability with lowest emissions.

And fuel cost is the single most important operating cost in a circulating fluidized bed combustion boiler. A well-designed CFB boiler can burn coal with a fairly high efficiency and within acceptable levels of gaseous emission.

Circulating Fluidized-bed Combustion Technology (CFBC)

Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology is the best technology for multi-fuel combustion - the ability to use diverse fuels of differing quality. The diversity of fuels ranges from conventional (coal, oil) and biomass to alternative (biogenous residues, sludge, rejects, and refuse-derived waste fractions with high calorific value). The high heat capacity of the fluidized bed evens out the fluctuations caused by fuel quality variations and effectively maintains combustion.

CFBC consists of a boiler and a high-temperature cyclone. The intra-furnace gas velocity is as high as 4 to 8 m/s. A coarse fluidizing medium and char in the flue gas are collected by the high-temperature cyclone and recycled to the boiler. Recycling maintains the bed height and

increases the denitration efficiency. To increase the thermal efficiency,a pre-heater for the fluidizing air and combustion air, and a boiler feed water heater, are installed.
